{Free Printable} Homemade Sugar Scrub Tags

I love homemade sugar scrubs! They also make easy, inexpensive and unique gifts. I found the perfect plastic jars at DT. Glass is more fancy, but IMO you want to use a container that’s plastic because most likely you’ll be using this in your shower and HELLO? The last place you want breakable glass/your naked body is in a wet, slippery shower! ;)

Let's make sugar scrub!

Let's make sugar scrub!

To make the scrub, I use white sugar and safflower oil. Safflower is my fave because it has a very faint odour, thin consistency and penetrates well without leaving much residue. You can find LouAna brand at Walmart for under $4. (Or you can send your husband to the store and he’ll come back with some fancy, expensive stuff like the one above). The fragrance oil can be found at Hobby Lobby. Many yummy smelling scents to choose from for around $7 (Use a 40% off coupon to bring down the cost).

You’ll want to experiment with the amounts of sugar/oil until you get the texture you prefer. I like mine to be the consistency of a SLUSHIE, so here’s what I came up with:

  • 2 + 1/4 cups of sugar
  • 1 + 1/2 cups of safflower oil
  • 20-40 drops of fragrance oil

Now it’s time to package it up with some matching gift tags…

I made two tags, one tag with “Instructions” (to attach to the jar) and a second “to/from” tag. I found primary colored rubber bands at Walmart for .48¢ and used a craft stick for a “stirrer”. Place the jar (with tag & stick attached) in a clear gift bag, then tie off with a pretty ribbon and the to/from tag. Voila! A super cute and useful gift :D

This sounds like a wonderful gift. I think I will give to my friends for this mother’s day. Thanks for the idea…
